City Hall: Sunset Park renovations to be done within 24 to 30 months
Sunset Park is getting a face-lift.
The renovation of Sunset Park is set to be completed within 24 to 30 months — and the park is going to remain open while the work is in progress.
The last renovation of Sunset Park occurred after Hurricane Floyd, which hit the city in 1999.
Mayor Sandy Roberson on Tuesday said that he remembers playing in Sunset Park when he was a child, riding the carousel and fishing along the banks of the Tar.
Roberson said he believes work on Sunset Park has been long overdue and that he is excited about seeing the park getting a new finish and a new sparkle.
”We’re going to keep all the old memories, all the great things about it — and we’re going to restore it, and we’re going to create new things, too, and new memories,” Roberson said.
