Temporary Closure of Tarboro Street (US 64 Business) from NE Main Street to Atlantic Avenue (NC 97), N Washington Street from Hill Street to E Thomas Street (US 64 Business), Albemarle Avenue from E Thomas Street to Tarboro Street and W Rose Street from Albemarle Avenue to Atlantic Avenue;
June 19, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.
Temporary Closure of S Church Street (US 301 Business) from Andrews Street to Nash Street, Hammond Street from S Franklin Street (US 301 Business) to SW Main Street, SW Main Street from Hammond Street to a point 200 feet north of Hammond Street and Coastline Street
• Consideration of Request from Dr. Thelma Bullock to Close the 400 Block of Highland Avenue from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 for the 100th Anniversary of North End Missionary Baptist Church
B. Consideration of the Following Requests for Fireworks Displays:
1. The City of Rocky Mount – at 550 Independence Drive (Sports Complex) on Saturday, July 3, 2021 - (rain date - TBD);
2. Rise Church - at 3520 Bishop Road on Saturday, July 3, 2021 - (church requests rain date – July 2, 2021); and
3. Englewood Baptist Church - on Church Property at 1350 South Winstead Avenue on Sunday, July 4, 2021 - (rain date - July 5, 2021)
C. Grant Project Ordinance Closeouts
1. 2017 Governor’s Crime Commission Block Grant;
2. 2017 Bullet Proof Vest Partnership Grant; and
3. 2017 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG);
D. Consideration of Submission of Amended Application to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (application approved by City Council on May 10, 2021 –
amendment reflects increase in allocation of $7,470 making total $514,419)
Recommended Action: Approve Consent Agenda (inclusive of approval of temporary street closures and fireworks displays; adoption of Ordinances and authorization for the Mayor and City Clerk to execute amended HUD application)
